From Command Sergeant Major to Contractor You Can Trust
David’s story is one of service, leadership, and discipline forged in the U.S. Army and carried into every project at ITM Exterior Solutions.
Born and raised in Evansville, David enlisted in the National Guard in 1989 and began his career as a traditional guardsman with the 1st Battalion, 163rd Field Artillery Regiment. After two years, he transitioned to active duty, serving with the 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas; the same unit his father had served with in Vietnam. He later moved to Fort Campbell, Kentucky, where he joined the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and earned the coveted Air Assault Badge.
Back home, David continued to serve in senior leadership roles, including Operations Sergeant Major and ultimately Command Sergeant Major of his unit. Over his career, he earned an impressive list of awards and decorations, including:
- Bronze Star Medal
- Five Meritorious Service Medals
- Two Army Commendation Medals
- Five Army Achievement Medals
- Six Army Good Conduct Medals
- Iraq Campaign Medal with campaign star
- Global War on Terrorism Service Medal

David retired as a Command Sergeant Major (E-9), the highest enlisted rank in the Army, after a career defined by discipline, loyalty, and care for his soldiers.
Today, he brings that same leadership and precision to ITM Exterior Solutions. Just as he once ensured the safety and success of his soldiers, he now ensures the protection and long-term security of every home and business ITM serves. His military career taught him to never cut corners, to lead from the front, and to always put people first — values that define ITM’s work on every project. Outside of work, David is a proud father of three daughters and a devoted grandfather to several grandchildren. He cherishes his time with them, whether it’s at ball games, evenings at the skate park, or simply sharing stories. His commitment to family is as strong as his commitment to service, and it’s that same heart and integrity that clients feel when they work with ITM.
